David and I decided to take a last minute trip to the beach for a long weekend before the end of summer. We originally wanted to go to Rosemary Beach, but since it was an impromptu trip, there weren’t many great rental options. We decided to go to Sandestin instead.
Growing up, my family lived near Sandestin for a few years, and we’ve gone back frequently. I’m pretty familiar with the area, but David had never been and he was skeptical when I’d gushed about the beautiful beaches.
We drove down on Friday and got there just in time to watch the sun set over the water from our balcony.
We spent the next two days basking in the sun, playing in the water, and enjoying some much needed down time. I picked up a book (Let Me Lie) for the first time in months. The water was a bit rough but we had so much fun floating in tubes and letting the waves drift us down the beach. I don’t know the last time either of us were that carefree. It was a wonderful and much needed break.
We spent the evenings going out to dinner, drinks, and exploring the area. It was a pretty low key trip, but we had so much fun together. Lately we’ve both had a lot going on. It was nice to be able to step away from everyday life for a little bit.
Now that David is hooked on the beaches, we can’t wait to go back. Next time I’d love to stay in Rosemary Beach.
