My parents came to visit for a couple days this week. While we’ve been up to Ohio to visit them recently, they hadn’t visited Atlanta since last year. I’d planned for us to do a lot of exciting things and have nice dinners in the city, but we ended up taking it easy and stuck around Roswell instead. It’s been a busy couple weeks for all of us, so having a laid back visit without an itinerary was really nice. David and I took my parents to some of our favorite local spots to eat and get coffee: Fellows, Rumis, Crazy Love, and Valor. My dad helped us with some stuff around the house and my mom and I got to spend some great quality time together. I really miss the one on one time I used to have with her and treasure any time spent together, even if it’s just drinking coffee and catching up. I wish my family lived closer and that I got to seem them more often.
One of the reasons my parents came to visit this week was to see Dave Matthews Band in Atlanta. I’ve always been a huge fan of DMB and David and I see them every time they tour through Atlanta. It’s something I look forward to every year, and I was excited to share the experience with my parents. It’s a great feeling to sit out on the lawn with a cold beer and listen to my favorite songs by a band I’ve loved since middle school. The concert was fantastic and I was thrilled to finally be able to hear his cover of All Along the Watchtower in person. That had been on my bucket list since college.
It was a great week. Maybe the best I’ve had all summer.
How was your week?
