My Favorite Fall Traditions

October 16, 2016 in Fall - 2 Comments

Over the years, David and I have started some fall traditions that I now look forward to every year.

1| Pumpkin Patch – Visiting a pumpkin patch may be my favorite of our fall traditions. We go out, find the perfect pumpkin, and cut it off the vine. We usually spend a good amount of time disagreeing on which is the perfect pumpkin, but it’s such a fun experience. Plus most of the pumpkin patches around here have farm animals which means I get to play with goats.

2| Apple Picking – Last year, David and I went apple picking together for the first time. It was really nice to drive up to the mountains, take a hay ride up to the orchard, and pick our apples in the brisk weather. Plus there are so many great recipes to make with the apples. I want to make a spiced cider this year.

3| Corn Mazes – Who doesn’t love a good corn maze? Last year we went to a HUGE one we got lost in and had such a fun time trying to find our way out. This year me might have to try a nighttime haunted corn maze.

4| Decorating for Halloween – Halloween is my favorite holiday, and I enjoy making the house festive for it every year. David bought me the Halloween Hello Kitty blowup while I was still living in my condo as a bit o a joke. Now that we have a house, I enjoy putting her in our front yard and embracing her tacky glory along with some fun lights in the trees. Since last year was our first Halloween in the house, I didn’t have many decorations, but I plan to work on getting more every year.

5| Fire Pit – Few things are more enjoyable than sitting around a warm fire on a cool night. We have spent hours around our fire pit making s’mores and having drinks with family and friends and it’s one of the reasons I look forward to cooler weather every year.

  • I got a belated anniversary gift from David today. It’s a heart made up of all the important places in our lives and relationship. Yosemite, where we got married is in the center. My heart is so full 💙
  • Good news for Lily! I took her to get the stitches out yesterday and the pathology came back. While the tumor was malignant, the vet was able to remove it all and her margins are clear. The cancer was a non-aggressive form and did not spread. She has a clean bill of health! I’m so thankful for our amazing vet and for all your love and support!
